Remember a couple of weeks ago when I was worried that the summer had gone by too quickly and I hadn’t done enough to enjoy it? Well, I’m happy to report that I feel completely different now. August was a magical month and I’m completely satisfied with Summer 2013 as a whole. Success!
To celebrate, I took a trip up north this past weekend with a couple of girlfriends. We had a car, a tent, a destination and that was about it. No camping reservations or hard-set plans. We just went. Our adventure took us to Inverhuron, one of my favourite places in this province, and the Bruce Peninsula/Tobermory. We left Saturday and came back Monday but it felt like we squeezed sooo much into a short time.
In Inverhuron, we got to take part in the town’s annual Corn Roast and celebrated my dear friend Kate’s birthday with flying lanterns, cake, wine and a beach fire.
Remember this girl? Hint: she has silent meows
This tent was my home for the past two weekends. We put it together so well this time that, when it rained, nobody got even a little wet. Also worth noting – the campsite was sold out but of course we got a last minute spot.
The Grotto was unbelievable. The water in Georgian Bay is so clear, you can see right to the bottom. My friend put it best: “It’s like you’re looking down at another planet.” (this is her about to leap from the rock wall)
Before sunset, we drove down to The Singing Sands. The water goes on for ages before getting deep. Walking on water during the sunset was pretty special. This picture of Karen is my favourite.
OK Fall. Your turn.
