I kept hearing great things about the Norwegian film Turn Me On, Dammit! (based on the book by Olaug Nilssen) but I wasn’t sure how far across the line into soft porn it would go, judging from the IMDB description. Turns out, just enough that you definitely don’t want to watch this with your parents. Seriously. Don’t.
The movie is about a 15 year-old girl named Alma who is grappling with her “out of control” fantasies about sex. It’s all she thinks about and it’s become enough of a problem that she’s rung up huge phone bills calling a (weirdly sweet and kind) phone sex operator. It’s also about friendship and love and bravery and all the awkward longing that comes with being a teenager. What was most interesting to me though, is that there are SO MANY movies about horny teenage boys that it’s become comical. This is funny, but in the smartest ways.
Plus, shot so beautifully. Highly recommend!
