I feel so rotten – like inside out rotten. I have this crazy nerve pain (it’s called Ulnar Nerve Entrapment in case you care/are interested in other people’s ailments). It basically feels like an electric shock in my elbow that zings down to my hand and makes my pinky and ring finger go all numb and tingly. Mmmmm. Guess how much anxiety I have about this sensation? Boatloads. Thank god for valium and for this:
Purity Cream Crackers and margarine makes almost everything better. You can only get these in Newfoundland (or at the No Frills on Lakeshore past Kipling). Highly recommend. My first choice for self soothing was bourbon but sweet J had tided and put away all our weekend groceries but smartly took the Woodford Reserve home. Sigh. For the best.
We had an amazing weekend getaway. While everyone else was drunk costuming, we did the low key woods thing. Strangely, I had zero FOMO around Halloween this year. Perhaps because I was snug and cozy in a winter wonderland.
Just grabbing his guitar to play some Neil. Someone must have given him the handbook on Me.
Our chalet was so perfect. We were sweating it driving in – it looks super touristy and all the leaves were off the trees but when we finally arrived and caught a glimpse of our teeny home all the worry went out the window.
Cozy! J cooked dinner, we listened to some music and made a fort out of the living room. We also played a game of crib (my favourite) and while I don’t brag that often…
SKUNKED! I called it from the beginning.
We woke up the next morning to this:
We went to the Townships to see Fall colours but got winter instead. Even better! I love snowfall and the entire surrounding areas were covered. J sweetly took me to Lennoxville where I attended Bishops University for four years so I could wander the town and be nostalgic. Thenwe ate lunch at the Pilsen in North Hatley aka the most beautiful place in Quebec. Then there was the 7 hour drive back to Toronto which was surprisingly not awful.
A++ weekend.
